HELP has COME!

I know we are all TIRED of being in the house, ready to go out into the world and be with our family and other loved ones. I know that for me being home has gotten a bit harder and I have had to dig deep to find some outlets that helped me cope with being home. One of the main things has been disconnecting from news and some other media outlets for a couple of hours or even days at a time. It has helped me to refocus, re-energize and calibrate my emotions. I urge you to take a break from the news and focus on yourself or your family, it helps to calm your spirit more than you think.

Here are a couple of other things that I have been doing to keep me sane during this quarantine.

Reading - I love a good book and can read a good book in one day. I subscribe to Bookbub to get a daily update on free and low priced books on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Apple and Google websites. I cuddle up in the recliner or in the bed with a hot cup of my favorite tea of the week and dig in. I am also in that good book, The Bible, I have listened to it on days when I need it and can't sit down. I have stayed up late to read it and downloaded the YouVersion app to enable myself to study and dig deeper by using their Study Plans.

Music - When you LOVE music as much as I do you have several outlets, such as Spotify and Pandora. Most recently Instagram DJ's have been my go to! There are so many to choose from so find the ones that best suit you and many of them save their lives so you can always go back and listen to your favorite ones or catch up on ones that you have missed. I listen to a lot but here are some of my favorites. Trust me you will be moving from the beginning.

DJ Trauma - @DjTrauma - My #1 Pick truthfully. He plays a blend of everything from R&B, Hip Hop, Gospel, Reggae, African Beats and Classics. His lives are amazing and I have met some AMAZING people in there. (#TraumaUnitFamily)

DJ Diamond Kuts - @djdiamondkuts - Her upbeat blends help me workout and her Sunday morning Jams of Gospel get me excited for the preached word!

Deon Cole -@deoncole - His Sunday Disco Fellowship on Instagram not only lifts my spirits but makes me burn off some off these quarantine calories.

My InstaGram handle is @just_syai if you want to follow and receive updates on new posts and some extras I will have coming in the future (speaking that thing into existence).

Workouts-Sync your phone to map my run (app), use Samsung Health (app), grab a FitBit or any other device that can track your heart rate, steps and the such and get to walking! Head on over to your nearest Walmart, Academy, REI or Five Below and pick up a rope, some small weights, a water bottle and get to working out! I take walks within my neighborhood that helps when I just want to get out the house and change the scenery, breathe, pray and just release. We have an indoor elliptical/bicycle duo, they have them on Amazon as well as Walmart, I use that when I don’t have the opportunity to go outside or if I have a lot to do inside and time just passes me by. I break a good sweat and relieve some stress and frustrations. ( I have also had some good prayer breakthroughs on that bike). I am growing to love what I see but these unwanted pounds from this quarantine is NOT the move, so they gots ta GO!

Crochet/Sew/Create- I have been creating a lot more recently and this has been a great outlet for me to release. Crocheting for me is a stress reliever, I pray as I crochet, I count in Hallelujahs and Thank you Jesus to remember my stitches, sometimes I go too far and my hand swells, but I just need to remember to take breaks.

Sewing gives me the ability to try new things for myself and create the visions that God has given me. I made masks for a while by request and recently want to try my hand at making a maxi sun dress. Create something new for yourself, a picture maybe. Go on Pinterest and find a DIY project that you would love! There are so many different ways to be creative, just find something that works for you!

Last but certainly not least….REST!! God dropped that in my spirit to rest as it is good for the body, mind and soul. Allow yourself to rest and take breaks to get away from the pressures of the pandemic, racial issues and other issues within our world. Just know, resting and doing nothing are 2 different things (post to come) so take time to care for yourself. Your body will thank you for it later.

I pray these tips work for you and if you are feeling depressed, please reach out to a licensed professional. Check with your insurance carrier or free resources within your city or state to connect with someone. You are not alone no matter what the enemy says!

  1. No, this is not the Summer I anticipated back in February. However, we are getting by with ice cream, freeze pops, the sprinkler system and movie nights. Like you, I will continue to read my Bible Plans and attempt to shed these unwanted quarantined pounds off.
I'm glad you are doing you!! 🤗😊Thanks for all the great suggestions...I will try the Pinterest DIY project too! I need a new hobby.

PERFECTION

I was talking to another mom one day while picking my daughter up from school (before Corona) and she said, sometimes she feels bad because she is not the perfect mom. I said to her none of us are, we all make mistakes and do things a way that can sometimes be wrong, but it all works out for greatness somehow. Then when I got home, the Lord kept telling me perfection is not a necessity. Why do we have this fascination with being perfect? I have gone through it myself many times. I can't tell you how often I have unraveled a completed project because I messed up, decided not to wear a particular outfit or completely redid my hair because it wasn't perfect.  Christians often feel that they have to be perfect in the eyes of the church to be used or hold office,  unbelievers say "I have to get myself right before I come to the Lord" as if they can become a vision of perfection on their own.  Let's be clear, there is no one perfect besides Christ , not even me.   ...

About JustSyai

Hello Loves! Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself and welcome you all to my blog. I am so thankful that you stopped by. My name is Syaidah, just like the famous singer-songwriter Siedah Garret, but you can call me Syai (pronounced Sigh). I am a Christian, a wife, a mother of 3 children, a lover of all things fabric, yarn and music, lastly but certainly not least, I am a writer.   I have been writing for years, it started as journaling and slowly turned into mini articles. I would start to write about my feelings, prayers and the Lord would give me scriptures to add in. Then I would be in church listening to the word, suddenly I would get a download from heaven and I would quickly jot it down so I could write about it when I got home. The urge to write would burn in my mind, flow in my thoughts or replay over and over at the most inopportune times, until I put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard. The name Just Syai came forth because I found that I was losing myself....
