Hello Loves!
This past month has been like nothing I could have ever thought or wanted to experience. If you would have told me in November that in December I would be COVID tested twice a week, every week, and I would be wearing scrubs, a surgeon's gown, a face shield and goggles to work everyday, I would have laughed, but here I am and I am tired. After this past month, I made a promise to myself that I would be more diligent in the matters of my business, my hobbies, my creativeness and most of all, ME.
I made a promise to myself a long time ago to stop making New Year's resolutions and start making life goals. No one keeps resolutions, EVER! I know I don't keep them and truth be told neither do you. But goals, we do our best to reach them, no matter if they are short term or long term because short term goals lead to long term results. We are in the last week of this year, going on to a new year with new mercies, so lets make some goals together!
Goal #1 - Remove toxic people from your life. Sometimes people have the best intentions but they do great harm. You know that friend that only calls when they want something (money, resources, etc.), the one that only wants to talk about their goals and what is great or not so great in their lives, the one that only wants to talk to you when you have something going on that is good or the worst one of all, the one that only wants you to share your struggles, darkest secrets and things that hurt you the most. These are toxic people. If you don’t have people in your life that provide 2 way and 2 sided friendships and relationships get you some new people in your life! Friendships and relationships are give and take on both sides and if you are always doing the giving or the receiving it is not beneficial to you.
Goal #2 - Assess your mental, emotional and spiritual well being at this present moment. This pandemic has had everyone in survival mode. We're moving and doing the best we can in our situation without really being able to sit and focus on ourselves. Take a moment to assess yourself and where you are, and ask yourself some questions. Are you happy? Are you stable? Are you okay with your relationship with the Lord? Do you wish things could be better? If you don't like your answers to these questions, create a plan to work on that to make it better. Only you know what that looks like for you.
Goal #3 - Focus on your future you. It is okay to focus on 2021, but what do you want to do past that? Where do you see yourself in 2025? A business, a marriage, a child, a career move? Only you and God knows, but no matter what that is you need to prepare yourself and that starts from now. Do your best not to make permanent decisions based on a temporary situation. We won't always be in a pandemic and we will not always be in survival mode. I want you to know that you have the tools to achieve anything you want for your future self, some tools need to be sharpened, others need to be taught because they have never been used before, but they are already there.
Goal #4 - Take time to Relax. It is okay to relax when you are on the grind, it is okay to sleep and take a day of rest. If you are working a job and have never taken a day off, take a day off! Trust and believe, as an HR manager I have seen people leave due to sickness and they were replaced in a matter of 2 weeks. Your job can survive a long weekend, a week or 2 without you, your family can survive a couple of hours without you. You matter and there is no one else in this world like you, so take care of you like never before.
These are 4 goals to work on all year round if need be and feel free to add to them as you see fit. Life can hand us so many obstacles and events of greatness or sorrow but just know that no matter what GOD is in control. What goals do you see yourself trying to check off your list for this upcoming year? I am praying that the year to come will be an amazing year like never before for everyone who reads this post.
Love,
Just Syai
